How to Read Years in English

read years in English

1- If there are no thousands' or hundreds' digits, read the number as-is.
   (Eğer sayıda binler ve yüzler basamakları yoksa, sayı olduğu gibi/hiçbir değişiklik yapmadan okunur.)

0 > zero/oh                63 > sixty-three
7 > seven                   99 > ninety-nine

2- If there is a thousands' digit but the hundreds' digit is zero, you can read the number as "n thousand and x".
   (Eğer binler basamağı olup da yüzler basamağı da sıfır ise, sayı "... thousand and x" şeklinde okunur.)
   If the last two digits are zero, you leave off the "and x" part.
   (Son iki basamak-onlar ve birler basamağı- sıfır ise, "and x" kısmı atılır/söylenmez.)
 
1063 > one thousand and sixty-three           2007 > two thousand and seven
1000 > one thousand                                    2000 > two thousand

3- If the hundreds' digit is non-zero, you can read the number as "n hundred and x".
   (Eğer yüzler basamağı sıfır dışında bir rakam ise, sayı "... hundred and x" şeklinde okunur.)
   If the last two digits are zero, you leave off the “and x” part.
   (Son iki basamak-onlar ve birler basamağı- sıfır ise, "and x" kısmı atılır/söylenmez.)

645   > six hundred and forty-five              1453 > fourteen hundred and fifty-three
1200 > twelve hundred                                 600 > six hundred
2100 > twenty one hundred

4- The above rule produces some formal and old-fashioned names.
   (Yukarıdaki/Bir üsteki/3. kural bazı resmi ve eski usul okuyuşlar ortaya çıkarmaktadır.)
   Where it exists, it is acceptable to omit "hundred and".
   (3.kuralın olduğu yerde, "hundred and" kısmı atlanabilir/okunmayabilir.)
   If you do, and the tens’ digit is zero, you must read that zero as “oh”.
   (Eğer böyle yapılırsa ve de onlar basamağı sıfır ise, sıfırın "oh" şeklinde okunması gerekir.)

645   > six forty-five                             1453 > fourteen fifty-three
1908 > nineteen oh eight                       1106 > eleven oh six
2105 > twenty one oh five                     1960 > nineteen sixty

5- Finally, though uncommon it is possible to read the years in rule #2 using the systems for rules #3 and #4.

1054 > ten hundred and fifty-four / ten fifty-four
3026 > thirty twenty-six
2007 > twenty oh seven
2096 > two thousand and ninety six / twenty ninety-six
